A$AP Rocky - Shittin’ Me
Released as part of the soundtrack for the new Need For Speed game, “Shittin’ Me” sees A$AP Rocky stepping into his comfort zone as he raps aggressively over a grimy and hard-hitting beat. Aside from the excellent song “D.M.B”, it was a dry year for the Rocky fans. This new single before the year-end is very welcomed and a good sign that more music may be on its way in 2023.

Blxst & Larry June - Keep Calling
With the release of his April album “Before You Go”, the Los Angeles artist Blxst solidified his position as a go-to singer for catchy hooks and moody R&B songs. This new collaboration with Larry June adds to his catalogue a cool song to drive around with the windows down. The bass line is propelling the single to new heights, creating a sunny ambiance for both artists to rap about the females in their lives.

Metro Boomin - Around Me (feat. Don Toliver)
This is by far the most melodic song of Metro Boomin’s new album HEROES & VILLAINS. Don Toliver keeps on proving he can say whatever he wants with the right vocal effects, and it sounds cool as hell. He delivers an emotional performance over a beat full of synth-basses and clear kicks. Morgan Freeman narrates the outro of the song, adding context to the theme of the album.

Black Soprano Family - We Here (feat. Benny the Butcher, Elcamino, Rick Hyde & Heem)
Fresh off the release of their excellent label album “Long Live DJ Shay” back in September, the gang of lyricists led by Benny the Butcher is back with a great single to close out a productive year. Each member has released at least one project in 2022 and they all show that same energy and hunger in each song they create together.

TOBi - Hoodwinked
Following the excellent October singles “She Loves Me” and “Flowers”, the Canadian artist releases another song that is musically different. Leaving the melodies and the romantic vibes behind, he raps on a 3-minute energetic trap instrumental, proving he has the skill set to do whatever he wants with his art.

The Alchemist - Clip In A Tray (feat. ScHoolboy Q)
The prolific producer from Los Angeles is back with a compilation named “The Alchemist Sandwich”, where is combines his high-quality EPs “Bread” and “Lunch Meat” into one package. He also adds two new songs “Big Syke” and “Clip In A Tray”. The latter features TDE’s ScHoolboy Q and is a classic-sounding dark gangster soundtrack where a guitar loop and laid-back drums mix together beautifully.
Released 16/12/2022
Dizzy Wright - Keep Goin
The Las Vegas native closes out the year with a new single about his favourite topic: motivation. He raps about the difficulties of reaching your goals and the perseverance it takes to keep working towards them. On the production side, the hard-hitting kick and the guitar loops make for most of the energy of the track.
Released 09/12/2022
Ab-Soul - Go Off (feat. Russ & Big Sean)
The TDE artist puts the deep and philosophical raps aside for this pure hip-hop gem featuring Detroit native Big Sean and Atlanta native Russ. They each have an amazing and confident verse, going in different directions with their subject choices. They masterfully rap over a simple but rapid beat produced by Amaire Johnson.
Released 16/12/2022
Meechy Darko - Sliders (feat. Flatbush Zombies & Col3trane)
Fresh off the release of his excellent August album “Gothic Luxury”, the New York artist releases a single featuring his fellow Flatbush Zombies partners and the RnB artist Col3trane. The song is a nice lyrical exercise for the three emcees and the hook by the British singer is simple but catchy. Compared to Meechy’s solo album, “Sliders” is much lighter in tone and requires less concentration to fully appreciate the art.
Released 13/12/2022
SZA - Low
“Low” is the lone banger from the new album by SZA “SOS”. Boosted by some well-placed Travis Scott ad-libs, she lets everybody know that she isn’t in the mood for romantic feelings. The trap production is hard-hitting, especially as the 808 bass lifts the energy into the stratosphere.
