Joey Bada$$ - Head High
This new single by Joey Bada$$ is simply beautiful. He rhymes flawlessly on the Statik Selektah produced beat full of background harmonies, smooth bells and dramatic strings. The music is incredible, but it’s his performance and content that steals the show. The Brooklyn native raps about the difficulties of losing loved ones and the place of black people in modern times, where they are persecuted by governments and their own people in the violent streets. The second verse details the first time he met XXXTentacion and how this would transform into a friendship. It’s vulnerable and it feels good to see a rapper showing a sensitive side of his personality while reflecting on those who touched his life.

Nyck Caution & Charlie Heat - Casamigos Freestyle (feat. Kirk Knight)
Certified BANGER alert! This new Nyck Caution song goes hard with a trap beat produced by the talented Charlie Heat. It also features a verse from Kirk Knight, making it a Nyck @ Knight reunion that is heartfelt for the longtime Pro Era fans. Both emcees use rapid flows with ease and unload many aggressive rhymes to anybody willing to catch the heat. The themes are simplistic, but are going to make you ready to get to work and make something happen. The melodies by Kirk on the outro are wavy as hell and Nyck offers a catchy hook all along the almost 3 minute runtime.

Pusha T & Nigo - Hear Me Clearly
After two exceptional singles released in January and February with respectively A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi, Nigo is back in March with another top-notch single with the G.O.O.D Music president himself, Pusha T. The Virginia rapper sounds crispy and right at home on a gritty trap beat that bounces a distorted sub-bass in your face. Push keeps the dope talk and the luxury brand bragging at an all-time high with distinguished bars about his favourite topics.

Loud & White-B - Rien de moins
The Montreal superstar is back with a new single that is straightforward and efficient. He recruits the rising emcee White-B to deliver a good verse and he simultaneously pushes the Rap Queb scene with a fresh dose of momentum. Apart from a couple of features there and there, Loud has been pretty quiet in the last 2 years. He spoke about a new album soon, so this song could be a clear indicator that he is ready to please his fans who have been patiently waiting.

Chance the Rapper - Child Of God
Chance is finally back with a new creation that showcases his immense talent and poetic abilities. The Chicago artist builds a picture with every word and delivers emotionally at every bar. His voice sounds older and calmer than ever before as he uses a rapid laid-back flow to deliver his message. It builds up at each verse to reach a pinnacle at the hook and the music just lets it breathe before gaining more energy with instruments arriving out of nowhere. This single is grandiose and an exciting teaser for other material that may follow this release.

Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T. & Smoke DZA - Put You On
This collaboration is amazing for obvious reasons: great artists, great production and a timeless sample by The Smith Connection. The latter was also used by Westside Gunn on « Mt. T » back in 2018 and it still sounds perfect for a quality rap record. Wiz begins the song with a classic-sounding verse while Big K.R.I.T. carries most of the song with a solid verse and southern-sounding hooks. Smoke DZA feels hungry as ever with a quick verse that adds a good dose of energy to the track.

Buddy & T-Pain - Happyhour
Fresh off the release of his new album « Superghetto », the very talented Compton artist Buddy creates a beautiful song with the help of the one and only T-Pain. From start to finish, the melodies take you on a joy ride with Buddy delivering catchy hooks and T-Pain flexing his auto-tune with heartfelt emotions. The music is smooth and simple enough to let both artists shine with their respective performances. Overall, it’s a great love song and another example of the versatility of Buddy’s sound.

Jay Worthy, Larry June & LNDN DRGS - Leave It Up To Me
There were rumours online saying that Jay Worthy, LNDN DRGS and Larry June were about the release a joint album curated by non-other than Westside Gunn. It now looks like it’s coming to reality with this very good new song. Both rappers are staying in their comfort zones with rhymes about their come-up from the pimping days and how they enjoy their extravagant lifestyles. The track is carried by a beautiful female vocal sample that loops during the verses and serves as the hook. The recipe is simple but efficient, and it’s a clear indicator that the upcoming collaborative album will sound wonderful.

Denzel Curry - X-Wing
« X-Wing » embodies everything great about Denzel Curry’s new album « Melt My Eyez See Your Future ». Produced by Darko, the beat is dramatic as hell, setting the stage for Curry’s rapid flow and melodic chorus. The latter is sure to get stuck on repeat in the listener’s head for days to come. The rhymes are clever and nostalgic for any Star Wars fan. Finally, Denzel’s performance on this song is energetic and right on par with some of his previous contagious songs like « CLOUT COBAIN » or « SPEEDBOAT ».

Benny the Butcher - Uncle Bun (feat. 38 Spesh)
The menacing beat from Daringer sets the tone for this dark hip-hop masterpiece from Benny the Butcher and 38 Spesh. Both rappers are vivid with their storytelling, with images and examples about their past hustles that left them feeling confident but scared. No wonder their 2018 album « Stabbed & Shot » was so great. Their chemistry is undeniable as they trade bars flawlessly and seem to enhance each other’s braggadocios attitudes with each statement. It fits incredibly well on the excellent album « Tana Talk 4 » released early in March by the Griselda member.
